Letters from Students at McKenny Elementary School - Detroit, MI: ”Dear Pioneers for Peace, Thank you for the ‘fantastic’ speeches that you gave. I learned a lot of important things from you. I learned not hang around people who are hating on you because you have something they want or because you can do something better than they can. Thank you for the shirt and binder too. I wore the shirt to a meeting and I use the binder everyday in school. I can’t wait until you come back in May so that you can lose to us six graders in wheelchair basketball. May God bless your souls. With thanks, Student P.S. When you come back in May, remember to bring the best skills you got in basketball.“ ”Dear Pioneers for Peace, Thank you for coming to McKenny and telling us about your stories. We learned a lesson. I learned not to hang around trouble makers and to get my work done and find my way in life. Thank you for coming. Sincerely, Student“ ”Dear Pioneers for Peace, Thank You for coming to McKenny school to talk to us about the dangers in life. You also talked about stopping violence and how to go on the right path to success. You motivated me to do the right things in life. I learned who to hang out with; I know not to hang with the trouble makers. Yours Truly, Student“ ”Dear Pioneers for Peace, I enjoyed your talk with us today. You showed me things that I should not be doing, like selling drugs…Also you never know who your friend is and who your friend is not. I enjoyed your talk about your injuries. Sincerely, Student“ Letters from Burton Middle School - Grand Rapids, MI: ”Dear Pioneers for Peace, I understand what all of you are going through in your life and I feel you all too. I feel really bad for all four of you and now got me thinking about what can happen to me in my life, and I can be in a wheelchair right now. I am thankful for the way I am and I know how you all feel. But you all will always be in my thoughts and in my heart. And trust me; I am living for something not nothing. Because I know if I don’t live for nothing the I know I will fall down, but I live for something. I stand for peace, justice, joy, love, my family, and my community…and I especially stand for the Lord. Sincerely, Student ”Dear Pioneers, I would like to thank you for coming to our school. You guys touched our hearts on what you guys had suffered. You guys are blessed by God to have been here. You guys are tough! But even though you guys are in wheelchairs doesn’t mean that it can determine how you act and feel. I was touched…I mean you guys don’t complain. Well I hope that you guys loved our school and presenting to us because you guys made a change in our lives. God Bless your hearts. Love, Student“ ”Dear Pioneers for Peace, I am writing because I want to thank you for coming here and talking to us about our lives. It was sad and very nice. I really learned a lot from the things you all talked about. I learned that I shouldn’t do bad stuff or any other things and listen to my mom and dad. I have a problem because my friends are kind of bad and I hang around with them and I maybe some of these things can happen to me. I learned a big lesson and what I should do now. Thanks a lot for coming and talking to us. Sincerely, Student“ P.S.: I stand for my family, my country and the people who I need to stand for.“ ”Dear Pioneers for Peace, I would like to thank you for the advice you gave us. It really made me understand that I have to have a purpose in life. I’m really sorry for what happened to you but it is really nice that you guys were strong enough to go up their and give us advice. Sincerely, Student“ ”Dear Pioneers for Peace, I thought your presentation was the best ever. You made me think about being more careful of a few people. Many of people are dangerous in the world. I know that lots of people will be changing now because of that. I know that you can get in life by being yourself and that mostly everyone is not your friends. I also thank you for coming to our school and tell us about what happened. Now I stand for my family more. Sincerely, Student“ ”Dear Pioneers for Peace, I liked what you guys talked about. What you guys said will help me in life. I hope you guys touched the hearts of others like you did to me. I am going to make the right choices and listen to my parents. I am going to try to tell other people. Thank you, Student“ ”Dear Pioneers for Peace, I wanted to thank you for opening your heart and sharing your personal stories with us. I know that you didn’t get paid to do this and you chose to come here. You have opened my eyes more so I can see what’s really going on in life so thank you. You know what? I didn’t think I could end up in a wheelchair or that something could happen to me until all of you came. So thank you for sharing at my school. Keep doing what you’re doing; I think you can make a difference in kids’ lives. Your Friend, Student“ ”Dear Pioneers for Peace, Thank you for coming and thank you for giving us some advice not to be gangster because they don’t really exist. The gangsters are really fake but your story is sad and it made me cry it was very sad. Yours Truly, Student“ ”Dear Pioneers for Peace, I really enjoy and understand what all of you said, and I’m sorry about what happened to you guys. I don’t care what happened to all of you, if I was your friend, I will not do what your friends did. I will go out with you all and do fun things regardless of your disability. That was something that was hard to forget and I hope that you all get better. Sincerely, Student“ | ||||||||||||||
